šŸ‹ March 2025 Favorites: what I’ve been reading, watching & loving

Hi friends,

Welcome to my very first Monthly Favorites series, where I share what I’ve been loving, reading, listening to, eating, and creating lately. I always find these kinds of lists cozy, fun, and inspiring—so I thought I’d bring a little version of that to your inbox each month šŸ’Œ

Let’s jump into March!

WHAT I’M READING

In March, I started reading How Not to Age by Dr. Michael Greger (yes, the same author who made me go plant-based with How Not to Die šŸŒ±). It’s packed with research and evidence—not just opinions—which I love. The book is dense and scientific, so I’ve been reading it while listening to the audiobook at the same time to stay focused. If I had to summarize it in one sentence? Go plant-based to slow down aging. That’s the biggest message.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

I’ve been completely obsessed with Afro House lately—this subgenre of house music is full of gorgeous instrumentals and energy. My whole Spotify is Afro House now šŸ˜… Also, I saw Shakira live in March! The concert was amazing (my favorite song is still ā€œHips Don’t Lieā€), although I think I got sick from being around so many people 🫣 totally worth it.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

In March, I watched a light, feel-good Netflix series called Running Point. It’s a basketball sports comedy that reminds me of Ted Lasso—not as good, but still fun and empowering. I also loved a YouTube video by Aprilynne Alter called "it's IMPOSSIBLE to stand out on youtube." no, you're just copying everyone else. It inspired me so much to stay authentic with my content.

SELF-CARE FAVORITES

I’ve been trying out the SpectraLite LED Face Mask by Dr. Dennis Gross (it was a gift—I wouldn’t have bought a $500 mask otherwise!). I started using it in March, and while it’s too early to tell, I think my breakouts are calming down. Will report back soon!

FOOD & WELLNESS

I was in a full-blown shiitake mushroom phase all month. The texture, the flavor—everything. As a vegan, mushrooms are a staple in my kitchen, and these were my March favorite. If you need delicious plant-based recipes, go to Pick Up Limes—I adore them. Their recent pregnancy announcement video made me cry šŸ„¹ā¤ļø

TOOLS & PRODUCTIVITY

Here are a few things I started using or loved using more in March:

⌾ Temptation bundling (thank you Atomic Habits) — pairing tasks I don’t love (like washing dishes) with things I enjoy (like watching YouTube). It makes habits easier.

⌾ VoicePal App by Ali Abdaal — my new go-to for scripting my videos. I talk, it listens and asks follow-ups. Total game-changer for staying authentic.

⌾ iPad Air M3 ā€” I use it to read, sketch thumbnails, and plan content. It's my new favorite tool.

CONTENT I CREATED

My language learning video I learned English to a C2 level, so you can just copy me went viral in March with 200,000 views in 10 days 🤯 I included a free lead magnet, and over 10,000 of you joined my newsletter from that video alone. Welcome to all of you šŸ«¶šŸ¼

LIFE LATELY

March was all about reconnecting with my voice and embracing more authenticity in my creative process. I realized I had been filming YouTube videos while trying to ā€œlook professional,ā€ sitting perfectly still in a chair, with good posture—but it never felt like me. In real life, I’m always moving around, changing positions, sitting cross-legged or with a leg up. So why not bring that comfort and realness to filming too?

I also decided to stop outsourcing my video scripts. Even though I would review them and make edits, it just didn’t feel like my own voice. It started to feel like I was just a presenter reading someone else’s thoughts—and that’s not what I want. I don’t want to just delegate for the sake of saving time if it means losing the heart of what I’m trying to say.

Everyone’s talking about how important it is to ā€œdelegate everything,ā€ especially in business. But I think it’s like writing a book—you can’t (and shouldn’t) outsource the actual writing if it’s supposed to be your story. That’s how I feel about my videos. The research, scripting, and storytelling are my favorite parts, and I want to hold onto them.

This month was a beautiful reminder that creative control = creative joy. The more I let myself be myself, the better the content feels—and the more connected I feel to it.

That’s it for my March favorites! Let me know if you liked this new format or want me to keep doing these. And if you try any of the things I mentioned, tag me or reply—I love hearing from you šŸ’¬
